TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Montague will hold a public meeting on the 20th day of October 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 6547 Roger Stevens Drive, to consider a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment under Section 34 of the Planning ACT, RSO 1990 as amended.

TAKE NOTICE that if a person or public body does not make oral or written submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Montague before the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council of the Township of Montague to the Ontario Municipal Board.

AND TAKE NOTICE THAT if a person or public body does not make oral or written submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township before the Proposed Zoning By-law Amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the Hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.

ANY PERSON may attend the Public Meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support or in opposition to the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION and reports relating to the proposed Amendment are available for inspection during normal office hours at the Clerk's office at 6547 Roger Stevens Drive.

EXPLANATORY NOTE: The proposed Zoning By-law Amendment affects a 1.3 ha (3.3 acre) portion of a 2.6 ha (6.5 acre) lot that is described municipally as part of Lot 11 Concession A (see key map on reverse).  The subject property is vacant and is bounded by County Road 43 to the South and the CP rail line to the north and is located roughly 750 metres east of the Village of Merrickville.  

The proposed Amendment would re-zone the portion of this lot from Rural (RU) to General Industrial Special Exception with the purpose of allowing the following as permitted uses:

  • a building supply yard
  • a bulk storage tank
  • a commercial garage
  • a contractor’s or tradesman’s shop or yard
  • a custom workshop
  • equipment rental
  • feed supply outlet
  • garden centre
  • heavy equipment sales or rental establishment;
  • a factory outlet
  • an open storage area
  • a parking lot
  • a warehouse
  • a small scale brewery
  • light manufacturing
  • precast monuments
  • agricultural products processing facility
  • a volumetric concrete mix operation.

For the purposes of this By-law, “volumetric concrete operation” shall be defined as a facility with equipment and storage designed to supply raw materials for off-site concrete mixing at construction sites, and which includes stockpiling and storage of bulk materials and aggregate, water storage and associated buildings and structures.

These lands are not currently subject to any other applications under the Planning Act.
