Q: How are property assessments made?
A: Properties in Ontario are assessed by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC), an agency of the Ontario government. MPAC is responsible for calculating assessed values and classifying properties. The assessed values are then used by municipal and provincial governments to calculate property and education taxes. If you have a problem with your assessment or you believe your property has been incorrectly assessed, contact MPAC at www.mpac.ca or call 1-866-296-MPAC (6722).
