Garbage Information
Garbage is to be placed at the roadside in an animal-proof container by 7 a.m. on the morning of collection.
Trash Tags
The Township provides an allocation of 90 garbage bag tags per year per household. These may be picked up at the Township Office any time during the year. Additional tags may be purchase for $1 per tag. The tags for one year are the same for the next, so if you have any leftover, you can continue to use them in the new year; but you must pick up the current year tags before the end of the year.
Household Hazardous Waste Depot
The Township is in partnership with many of the municipalities in
Items accepted at the depot include:
· Motor oil, antifreeze, oil filters
· Flammable liquids – gas, solvents, strippers, turpentine
· Organic flammables – adhesives, driveway sealant, caulk, resin
· Latex & oil paints, stains
· Propane cylinders
· Lead acid vehicle batteries & dry cell batteries
· Aerosol cans
· Acid or base corrosives – cleaners, drain openers, rust removers
· Pesticides
· Oxidizers – pool chemicals, fertilizers
· Fire extinguishers
· Fluorescent tubes (max. 4-feet)
· CFLs (curly light bulbs)
Items not accepted are as follows:
· Mercury – thermometers, thermostats
· PCB contaminated waste
· Pathological waste
· Pharmaceuticals
· Oxygen, freon & acetylene gas
· Radioactive waste – smoke detectors
· Ammunition, explosives, flares
· Asbestos
· Tires
Directions to the site are as follows:
At the Highway 15 and Highway 7 intersection turn right and go to the first set of lights and turn left onto McNeely Avenue
(Tim Horton’s is on your left and Canadian Tire is on your right when turning onto McNeely).
Travel north through the first set of lights (Lake Avenue) and turn left at the next intersection (Patterson Crescent) and follow the signs.
Special Drop-Off Day
Special Drop-Off Days take place in April and October from to at the Township Office located at
Items which are acceptable include:
- White metals
- Furniture
- Scrap metal
NO hazardous waste, animal or commercial waste will be accepted.
Trash tags or equivalent monetary value is required as per By-law 2258-95.
